We studied 34 taxa of Xylaria, which 17 are new records from Veracruz State; one of them X. obovata is a new record from Mexico. Of the previously known species (29) actually one belongs to Kretzschmaria. With these new records until now 45 species of Xylaria are recorded from Veracruz.
