RODRIGUEZ OROZCO, Alain R. et al. Fungal genera isolated from patients with allergic rhinitis and their relation with Prick test. Rev. Mex. Mic [online]. 2008, vol.28, n.spe, pp.89-94. ISSN 0187-3180.
Skin Prick test was applied to 108 patients with allergic rhinitis from the Hospital Vasco of Quiroga, ISSSTE, placed in Morelia, Michoacan. For the isolation of strains on PDA, nasal and pharyngeal swabs were obtained from patients had a positive skin prick tests for allergenic fungi, being the specimens identified by morphological methods and using a biotypification system (Biolog). The frequencies of positive skin Prick test to allergic fungi genera were the following: Candida 65.7%, Aspergillus 15.7%, Cladosporium 13.89%, Alternaria 10.2%, Rhizopus 9.3%, Helminthosporium 6.5%, Penicillium 5.6% and Mucor 4.6%. Statistical correlation between the results of the different methods was not significant (P> 0,05), due to several fungal genera identified did not induce detectable hypersensitivity reactions in the subcutaneous test, and the allergenicity of some fungi detected by Biolog system is not known. It is required to continue studying the relation between apparently non allergenic fungi with the atopic host and his pathogenic microbiota.
