FERRARI MUNOZ LEDO, Juan Emmanuel. Socio-digital Networks: A Sociological Dialogue among Marcuse, Habermas, and Giddens. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2023, vol.38, n.108, pp.245-262. Epub 12-Abr-2024. ISSN 2007-8358.
How should sociological theory deal with socio-digital networks? Constructing a dialogue among some ideas of Herbert Marcuse, Jürgen Habermas, and Anthony Giddens, the author reflects on how these networks impact our daily lives. We can find convergences between Marcuse and Habermas about technology as a form of domination with a very particular aesthetic. For Giddens, on the other hand, they are another representation of the modernity that allows individuals to surpass their immediate contexts and find other forms of social interaction and representation.
