RODRIGUEZ PAZ, María Eugenia  y  BARTOLUCCI, Jorge. Teaching and Learning Digital Technologies in the Classroom: A Case Study in Two High Schools. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2023, vol.38, n.107, pp.199-234.  Epub 27-Oct-2023. ISSN 2007-8358.

This article discusses access to and use of the Internet through personal computers and smartphones by sixteen students in two high schools located in dissimilar Mexico City settings. Information gathered by means of interviews was enriched with data obtained from classroom observation, with the aim of examining students’ performance on exercises set by their teachers. The results show a marked contrast between a style of classroom participation that helped to reinforce a typical pattern of school performance centered on the prompt completion of tasks, and another, where students were exposed to working styles focused more on favoring the development of their online capabilities. This contrast underscores the role students play in validating teaching guidelines that tend to structure teaching and learning of access to and use of digital technologies in schools.
