ZULUAGA DIAZ, Juan Carlos; CRUZ, Julio  e  MENESES CLAVIJO, Edna Margarita. Female Sexual Dysfunction and Promotion of Disease in Colombian Print Media. Linguistic Elements Seen from a Critical Analysis of Discourse. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2023, vol.38, n.107, pp.125-160.  Epub 27-Out-2023. ISSN 2007-8358.

This article presents part of the results of the investigation entitled “Female sexual dysfunction and promotion of disease: approach from critical analysis of discourse (CAD)”, which applied the theoretical and methodological perspective of critical analysis of discourse to reporting in Colombia’s two leading newspapers with nationwide circulation, El Espectador and El Tiempo, in their online versions. The study addressed discursive and sociolinguistic dimensions, and in this article the focus is on the latter, based on the identification and analysis of the main rhetorical, pragmatic, logical, and grammatical elements of the news articles that made up the corpus. Relevant findings include the use of a diversity of linguistic resources that help shape a discourse in which the journalistic genre implicitly merges with the conventions of advertising.

Palavras-chave : critical analysis of discourse; female sexual dysfunction; medicalization; promotion of disease; sociology of health; sociolinguistic dimensions.
