Resumen

GUERRA, Edgar. Cruelty and Brutality in How Journalists Die in Mexico. A Micro-sociological Approach. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2019, vol.34, n.97, pp.215-247.  Epub 25-Ene-2020. ISSN 2007-8358.

In 2015, the Committee for the Protection of Journalists (CPJ) reported that Mexico ranked as the seventh deadliest country in the world for being a journalist. The CPJ’s main indicator was the number of journalists murdered in the course of exercising their profession. Using the CIDE’s Drug Policy Program data base, the author undertakes a descriptive analysis of journalists’ deaths. He seeks to develop a taxonomy of the types of deaths of these professionals in Mexico and to identify the growth of homicide rates for journalists linked to the fields of crime and politics. Finally, he proposes an analytical model to research manners of death.

Palabras llave : organized crime; drugs; journalists; criminal violence.
