Resumen

GARCIA ANDRADE, Adriana. The Neuroscience of Emotions: Society Seen from the Point of View of the Individual. An Approximation to the Link between Sociology and Neuroscience. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2019, vol.34, n.96, pp.39-71. ISSN 2007-8358.

This article posits that both sociology and neuroscience of the emotions leave out important elements when explaining the phenomenon of emotion, arguing that for that reason the two disciplines should collaborate with each other. The author argues that, in their explanation of the emotional process, two prominent neuroscientists in the field of emotions (Antonio Damasio and Joseph LeDoux) indirectly show the need for society in almost all cases for emotions to appear in individuals. The two moments when this is visible are the perception of the emotionally competent event and the emotional experience. This permits a dialogue with that discipline. The author presents some examples of how collaboration between disciplines could happen.
