Abstract
BLANCO, Alejandro Raúl and JACKSON, Luiz Carlos. Heads of Latin American Sociological Schools of Thought: Gino Germani, Florestan Fernandes, and Pablo González Casanova. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2017, vol.32, n.90, pp.9-46. ISSN 2007-8358.
This article makes a comparative analysis of the careers of sociologists Gino Germani, Florestan Fernandes, and Pablo González Casanova, who almost simultaneously led modernization processes in the social sciences in Brazil, Argentina, and Mexico in the 1950s and 1960s. The main dimensions used as parameters in the comparison are relations between intellectuals and the state, the modes of organization of academic systems, the patterns of social recruitment of social scientists, and the work produced.
