The study of love in different fields of the social sciences has grown exponentially in recent years. The broad range of tendencies (theoretical, methodological, and in the definition of the object of study) in these studies has prompted the need to study love in several analytical dimensions. The aim of this article is to follow this initial intuition, dealt with by scholars like Stevi Jackson, but making reference to how these dimensions relate to distinctions present in sociology. The author proposes that these dimensions make it possible to approach a scientific object of study from different angles. Thus, she visualizes love in four dimensions, using articles from the French and English-language literature to exemplify each.
