Abstract

KURI PINEDA, Edith Elvira. Representations and Meanings in the Space-Society Relationship: a Theoretical Reflection. Sociológica (Méx.) [online]. 2013, vol.28, n.78, pp.69-98. ISSN 2007-8358.

Space and time are fundamental elements in the articulation of society. However, for several years, space has been forgotten. This article attempts a theoretical problematization of space, starting with a review of diverse precepts that emerge from classical and contemporary sociological thought, as well as human geography. It seeks to underline the inseparable, recurring relationship between space and society.

Keywords : physical space; social space; power; place; subjectivity; collective identity.
