The incorporation of fellowship and incentive programs is among the most important factors in transforming the ways academic work is regulated in Mexico. They have a profound impact on the ways research is done, its contents and strategies, as well as the dissemination of results. This article seeks to show and discuss the general framework of these transformations, as well as some results of a study of a group of academics at the Autonomous Metropolitan University. It attempts to analyze how the strategies and mechanisms for producing and disseminating research results have changed because of the programs to deharmonize wages.
