RODRIGUEZ DE JESUS, Cynthia e PEREZ BALEON, Guadalupe Fabiola. Households with female headship and post-disaster recovery strategies in Mexico. Estud. demogr. urbanos [online]. 2020, vol.35, n.2, pp.333-368. Epub 30-Jun-2020. ISSN 2448-6515. https://doi.org/10.24201/edu.v35i2.1852.
Gender inequality increases social vulnerability in households and can negatively impact the recovery strategies of female-headed households at the post-disaster stage. In this study, households with female and male leadership were compared through proportion analysis and logistic models. Expanded and single-person households with female headship and those run by younger women tended to resort to the support of family and friends to contribute to the recovery of their homes, compared to households with male headship, which used a larger, more effective array of strategies.
