Resumen

IBARRA SALAZAR, Jorge; SALAZAR CANTU, José  y  POLENDO GARZA, José. Residents' satisfaction with their neighborhood and the Tu Casa government program in the state of Zacatecas. Estud. demogr. urbanos [online]. 2016, vol.31, n.2, pp.413-464. ISSN 2448-6515.

One of the components of the degree of residential satisfaction, regarded as an indicator of living standards, is individuals' satisfaction with their neighborhood. In this article, we estimated various models for assessing the degree of satisfaction with their neighbor-hood of a sample of households in the state of Zacatecas. The estimates enabled us to determine whether the Tu Casa federal housing program in that state, implemented from 2004 to 2009, had any influence on the degree of satisfaction with the neighborhood, according to the perception of the residents interviewed. We found evidence that the program had a significant effect on the degree of satisfaction on the group of beneficiary families. In addition to this result, the estimate using ordinary least squares shows that road access, environmental pollution, perception of house value and length of time lived in the dwelling have a significant influence on the degree of satisfaction with the neighborhood. In the models estimated by probit and logit we find evidence that public safety and possession of the property also influence such satisfaction.

Palabras llave : satisfaction with the neighborhood; quasi-experimental design; Tu Casa program; Zacatecas.
