This article is part of the studies which, in recent years, have analyzed the current crisis of democracy, precipitated by the emergence, in various parts of the world, of populist political movements. We understand populism as a set of discourses and we focus on the media that will permit the dissemination of dichotomous, sensationalist stories among the population. The article makes a twofold contribution. First, it analyzes the propaganda spread through digital media by the main figures in Spanish and Mexican politics. Second, it examines the impact these stories have on public debate, traditional media, and citizens.
