Abstract

LOPEZ MACEDONIO, Mónica Naymich. Rural Teacher-Training College Students During the International Cold War Conflict. Secuencia [online]. 2020, n.108, e1723.  Epub Oct 23, 2020. ISSN 2395-8464.  https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i108.1723.

This article shares some of the findings of a broader research project on the Federation of Socialist Peasant Students of Mexico (FECSM) based mainly on the Federal Security Directorate archives. It clarifies the political and ideological position of rural trainee teachers, organized in the FECSM, on the international cold war conflict. It explains the origin of this organization as a result of the political alliances forged on the eve of and during the second world war, specifically between representatives of the Communist International in Mexico and the Lázaro Cárdenas government, which resulted in the corporate structure that subsequently governed this country for much of the 20th century. The FECSM was an emblematic revolutionary nationalist student organization, attached to international student organizations that openly identified with the anti-imperialism of the Soviet Union.

Keywords : Federation of Socialist Peasant Students of Mexico; Mexican Youth Confederation; International Union of Students; World Federation of Democratic Youth; cold war.
