SANCHEZ AMARO, Luis. Between Democratic Opening and Radicalism. The Nicolaita Student Movement from 1970 to 1979. Secuencia [online]. 2019, n.104, e1587. Epub 05-Feb-2019. ISSN 2395-8464. https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i104.1587.
This study reconstructs the historical development of the student movement at Michoacan University during the government of Luis Echeverría Álvarez (1970-1976) and half of the six-year term of José López Portillo, whose proposals for political opening and dialogue tended to divide the student body between supporters and radicalized members. An analysis is conducted, and a conclusion reached on the objectives that mobilized the student movement, the organizational models they adopted and the achievements made in the resurgence of the University Student Houses, and the strengthening of the university itself.
