KURI PINEDA, Edith. The multidimensional nature of collective action and social movements: a theoretical problematization. Secuencia [online]. 2016, n.95, pp.188-214. ISSN 2395-8464. https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i95.1382.
The fundamental purpose of this article is to discuss various theoretical currents that have explored the issue of collective action and social movements. Thus, some basic precepts of the theory of the mobilization of resources will be reviewed, alongside the actionalist sociology of Alain Touraine and Alberto Melucci, the theory of the frame, and finally the Subordination School. As we shall see throughout this study, despite the fact that these focal points share the recognition of rationality as a distinctive component of collective action, they maintain significant differences in the way they conceive a socio-political phenomenon with several empirical and analytical dimensions.
