SOLA AYAPE, Carlos. The rescue of Franco and francoism: Mexican hispanicism at the crossroads of the Second World War. Secuencia [online]. 2016, n.95, pp.91-114. ISSN 2395-8464. https://doi.org/10.18234/secuencia.v0i95.1379.
In 1945, once the Second World War was over, the victorious countries, including Mexico, identified Franco’s regime as one of the casualties of war and, among other measures, banned Spain from joining the United Nations. In self-defense, and with Franco cornered, the architects of Francoismo drew up a strategic plan designed to withstand external shocks, with the assistance of Mexican Hispanists such as Alfonso Junco and Jesús Guisa and Azevedo. Thus, taking into account the profiles of this historic crossroads, the objective of this article is to analyze the discourse of Mexican Hispanicism, instrumentally conceived to defend Franco and Francoism.
