This article therefore analyzes how, since the armed revolution of 1910 and during the construction of the revolutionary state, the various factions and governments resorted to the celebration of Independence and the worship of Miguel Hidalgo, “The Father of the Nation” as grounds for justifying his aspirations and access to political power. The author show that the various features and processes begun with the revolution determined the new interpretations and uses of national history designed to obtain political legitimacy from the symbolic level to justify the authority of the new power groups that took the place of the displaced Porfirian political class.
