The Pedracista coalition, formed to support General Manuel Gómez Pedraza during the 1928 presidential elections, is a peripheral topic in historiography. This research seeks to fill this gap, through an in-depth study of Pedraza's candidature using the impartial publication Águila Mejicana. It aims to answer the following question in particular: What were the journalistic arguments of Pedraza's supporters? To this end it analyzes editorials, collaborations and leaflets to reconstruct the Pedracista discourse. This work also offers a criticism of the York opposites and some of the debates that arose between both groups. It discusses the main characteristics highlighted by the Pedracista coalition to argue the suitability of the head of the Secretariat of War and the Navy (efficiency and severity in government, impartiality and "being men of good will") Lastly, it explains why the alliance chose specifically those aspects to face their opponents and, on the other hand, how these remained valid after the Pyrrhic victory of Vicente Guerrero.
