Abstract

PADILLA CALDERON, Esther. Water Users in the Yaqui Valley during the Richardson Company Administration, 1906-1919: A Sociocultural Characterization. Secuencia [online]. 2014, n.89, pp.27-54. ISSN 2395-8464.

This article provides a sociocultural description of the users of the Richardson company during its administration in the Valle de Yaqui in Sonora. Its construction was based on the premise that there were no substantive differences between water and irrigation infrastructure users regarding their access to water and land, the location of their land in the territory, their production practices and the characteristics of their relations with this US company. We have grouped together and compared these elements, which involved inequalities in productive development, in order to grasp the existing diversity among the farmers in the valley at the time and determine how their agricultural production practices changed.

Keywords : Users; Richardson company; production practices; traditional; typology.
