D'ANGELO, Ana y TORRICELLA, Andrea. Uses and Meanings Given by Social Actors to their Personal Photographs: Methodological Approaches Between Anthropology and History. Secuencia [online]. 2013, n.85, pp.139-162. ISSN 2395-8464.
This paper undertakes a methodological comparison of the contributions of anthropology and history in the use of personal photographs in social research. It is based on the author's research and provides a methodological approach that recovers the place of social actors in the interpretation of images. One of these was carried out in the context of a photography workshop attended by young people from a low- income neighborhood in the southern conurbation of the city of Buenos Aires, Argentina in 2005. The other study is based on personal-familial collections of photographs from the mid-20th century in Argentina. The approach adopted combines the dual quality of photographic images as representation and presentations, the contexts of their creation, use and preservation and the interpretations of their creators/owners.
