The devils or judas are dancers who appear during Holy Week in Tamapatz -a community located Southeast of Aquismón, in the Huasteca, San Luis Potosí. They are dressed as conceptualized beings that share many characteristics with the Devil, and combine elements of the Teenek world and the Mestizo world in their personalities. They all help each other in their association, because they participate in the same places and share culinary preferences and ethical values. But why does this happen? What is it that allows the Devil to relate to the devils? The exchange of strength, understood as vital energy that gives the extant beings the power of acting in the world, offers us a possible answer. In this paper we analyze the attributes of the devils’ strength, beginning with the following questions: where does that strength come from? What are its characteristics? How is the exchange between the devils and the Devil achieved and what are its effects?
