Every year, the Coras, a People living in Mexico’s Western Sierra Madre, celebrate the Pachitas (Carnival). The protagonists of this ritual are The Malinches, girls of the community who transform into goddesses during the carnival period. How does this transformation occur? From the ritual description, the aim of this article is to analyze strategies used by the Coras to make this transformation possible. We will note how the Malinches positioning in a determined given pattern, as well as the contact with certain objects, allows their transformation into goddesses. This will lead us to take up some theoretical observations on the relationship that can be built between human beings, deities and objects in the ritual context.
