BORDAT, Élodie M.. Les héros ne sont le patrimoine unique de personne: Les enjeux des célébrations du Bicentenaire de l'Indépendance et du Centenaire de la Révolution mexicaine de 2010. Trace (Méx. DF) [online]. 2013, n.63, pp.60-75. ISSN 2007-2392.

How did Mexico, run by the conservative National Action Party (PAN), commemorate the Bicentenary of its Independence and the Centenary of the Mexican Revolution in 2010? How did the three powers of the Union and the States celebrate the events that gave birth to the Mexican Nation-State, knowing that they represented victories over the conservatives, whose heirs were in federal power at the time of the celebrations? This article will answer those questions through semi-structured interviews with the celebration's key actors, through event-analysis and through the analysis of reports by organizations in charge of the Executive's control (legislative and judiciary authorities) after misappropriation denouncements. We develop the hypothesis that those celebrations are used by the government as a "commemorative ritual" in order to reactivate Mexicans' sense of union and of a "community of interests and traditions" in a context of social and political crisis.

Palavras-chave : heroes; commemorative ritual; conservatives; Mexican Revolution; Two hundred years of Independence.
