HERRERA RODRIGUEZ, Jacobo; PEDROZA CABRERA, Francisco Javier; OROPEZA TENA, Roberto e RIVERA HEREDIA, María Elena. Experimental Analysis of Social Interactions Among Prison Inmates: Exchange, Sanction and Power. Rev. mex. anál. conducta [online]. 2012, vol.38, n.2, pp.106-125. ISSN 0185-4534.
This study analyzed intraprison social interactions from an interbehavioral psychology perspective. It was grounded specifically in the Theoretical Analysis of the Functional Dimensions of Social Behavior (FDSB), in which three dimensions of social behavior are established: 1) exchange, 2) sanction and 3) power. The purpose was to identify group styles of intraprison social interaction by systematically recording the frequency of occurrence of each of the behaviors considered in FDSB, across experimental phases pertaining to each functional dimension. The participants were eight prison inmates, classified by the institution in three functionality categories: 1) high, 2) medium and 3) low. Three styles of social interactions were found: exchange in the medium functionality participants, exchange-power in the high functionally participants and exchange-sanction in the low functionality participants. The sequential analysis of the behavior detected succession patterns between functional levels, which were ex-pressed as indicators of the probability of occurrence of each behavior.
