Resumen

AVILA S., Raúl  y  ORTEGA, Brenda E.. Correlation of Parents and Classmates Reports with Self-Controlled Behavior in Children. Rev. mex. anál. conducta [online]. 2012, vol.38, n.2, pp.6-21. ISSN 0185-4534.

Self-report, the report by parents and the report by classmates of self-controlled behavior were examined for 20 children. These children also participated in a computer-based self-control task in which each subject was exposed to a 32-s time cycle (T cycle) in which a video was presented during the last 8 s (SR1) of the cycle. The video could be presented for another 8 s once the T cycle elapsed (SR2), but only if the child did not try and reproduce SR1. If the child attempted to do so, SR1 was interrupted and the SR2 presentation was cancelled. Reliable correlations were found between parents and classmates reports for both, self-controlled and impulsive behavior of children. However, the performance of the children in the computer-based self-controlled task was independent of self-reports or the reports by parents or classmates. The findings are related to the study of self-controlled behavior defined as refraining from consuming a reward until a predetermined criterion is reached.

Palabras llave : self-report; questionnaires; self-controlled task; refraining from consuming; humans.
