AVECHUCO CABRERA, Daniel. Constructing the Atila del Sur: Iconography of El Imparcial on Zapatism. Relac. Estud. hist. soc. [online]. 2020, vol.41, n.162, pp.1-33. Epub 02-Mar-2021. ISSN 2448-7554. https://doi.org/10.24901/rehs.v41i162.687.
This paper presents an analysis of the iconographic discourse of the newspaper El Imparcial in its work of constructing a negative image of Emiliano Zapata, which began in mid-1911. The study adopts an interdisciplinary approach and includes conjectures concerning possible links between the paper’s journalistic discourse and the narrative of the Mexican Revolution. In addition to contributing to our knowledge of a stage of Zapatism that, while known, has not yet been sufficiently explored, the article examines the work of illustrators who were pioneers in the aesthetic representation of the Mexican Revolution
