PADILLA PINEDA, Mario T.. Images and accounts: The evolution of priestly vocations in the Archdiocese of Mexico, 1930-2000. Relac. Estud. hist. soc. [online]. 2015, vol.36, n.141, pp.221-257. ISSN 2448-7554.
This aim of this essay is to contribute to the study of priestly vocations in the Catholic Church and the social factors that conditioned them. To this end, it employs research techniques both quantitative and qualitative to gather information and analyses, before interrelating graphic representations and the numerical evolution of priests with their own accounts of how they came to adopt this vocation. This procedure allowed us to ascertain that one of the factors associated with the decline in the number of vocations among the clergy of the Archdiocese of Mexico is that Catholic families have weakened their function as both transmitters of the faith and 'incubators' of priestly vocations.
