Abstract

CHAVEZ GONZALEZ, Mónica Lizbeth. Family, Affective Relations and Ethnic Identity among Indigenous Urban Migrants in San Luis Potosí. Relac. Estud. hist. soc. [online]. 2013, vol.34, n.134, pp.131-155. ISSN 2448-7554.

The aim of this article is to contribute to the debate on the role that the family and affective relations play in constructing ethnic belonging in the case of indigenous people who migrate to the city of San Luis Potosí. It explores the dilemmas of the ethnic reproduction of Teneks and Nahuas outside their places of origin to explain the weight that subjective dimensions acquire in the formation of ethnic identities.

Keywords : ethnic identity; families; affective relations; urban indigenous migrants.
