Abstract

CALONGE REILLO, Fernando. Remembering the Others: The Structure of the Memory of the Former Workers on the Haciendas in the Region Xalapa, Mexico. Relac. Estud. hist. soc. [online]. 2011, vol.32, n.125, pp.139-166. ISSN 2448-7554.

This article presents the results of research on oral history collected from the former workers of the hacienda regime in the region of Xalapa. The objective is to map the basic structure of the memories of those laborers. The essay shows that said structure complicated the defense of the identities of the current inhabitants of rural zones and impeded the conservation of their patrimony and the social history of the region.

Keywords : oral history; collective memory; patrimony; identities; haciendas.
