MOCTEZUMA YANO, Patricia. The Pottery Craft in Tlayacapan, Morelos: A Family Legacy of Technical and Organizational Knowledge. Relaciones (Zamora) [online]. 2010, vol.31, n.121, pp. 227-253. ISSN 0185-3929.
An occupational tradition persists through time and in the collective memory of its creators thanks to several factors. In the case of pottery production in Tlayacapan, two elements stand out: first, the importance of specific norms related to social organization -residence, descent and succession- and the learning and continuity of this f orm of artesanal production; and, second, but closely interwoven with the first, a series of technical and work-related changes that are occurring as a result of the emergence of a new form of local ceramic production, ornamental figures. The outcome: traditional products now coexist with new decorative pieces, providing artisans with two types of pottery and two ways of preserving and developing their craft.
