MICHEL ACEVES, Alejandro Casimiro et al. Biocontrol of "Witches' Broom" Disease in Mango with Trichoderma spp., Under Field Conditions. Rev. mex. fitopatol [online]. 2013, vol.31, n.1, pp.1-12. ISSN 2007-8080.
The biological effectiveness was evaluated in field of Trichoderma spp., in the control of mango "witch's broom" caused by Fusarium oxysporum y F. subglutinans in two production cycles in a commercial mango orchard of 20 years cv. "Haden", in Tuxpan, Gro. The treatments were: 1) Trichoderma harzianum strain Thzn-2; 2) T. harzianum strain Thzcf-12; 3) T. lignorum; 4) Benomyl; 5) Benzothiazole + Metylene bisthiocyanate and 6) absolute witness; they were distributed at random in a design of complete blocks, with 5 repetitions. They were carried out eight air aspersions, every 15 d from about the middle of october. The evaluated variables were: number of inflorescences healthy and disease m-2 and total area, total number of fruits for tree, productive efficiency and disease severity. It was carried out a variance analysis, test of Tukey and ortogonal contrasts. T. lignorum and Thzn-2 presented the biggest quantity in healthy inflorescences, over coming to the chemical fungicides. The quantity of fruits for tree and the productive efficiency spread to increase in the second year evaluation in the treatments with the help of Trichoderma. With the two serial years of evaluation was proven that Trichoderma spp., is a good biocontrol agent for the disease. In particular, Trichoderma harzianum native strain Thzn-2 reduced the severity on the average 22.9 % compared with the witness.
