The objective of this study was to identify the causal agent of the rot young leaves of the bud. This plant disease has a current and potential importance in aloe crop. Biochemical results show that is a bacteria Gram (-); Rot potato (+); Oxidative and fermentation metabolism of glucose; Indol production (+); Phosphatase test (+); Maltose acid production and no lactose; Alpha-metyl-glucoside and palatinose and; Gas production from glucose. Agree of this information and the application of the Koch postulates, the causal agent to the syndrome before cited, is the bacteria Erwinia chrysanthemi.
