Abstract

GALLY, Teresa. Quality improvement in results obtained from plant pathology laboratories. Rev. mex. fitopatol [online]. 2008, vol.26, n.1, pp.79-82. ISSN 2007-8080.

The application of quality management systems in the agricultural and husbandry area is relatively new. Norm ISO/IEC 17025:2005, although widely applied, it is focused on specialties such as chemistry and physics. Therefore, implementation of this norm to plant health laboratories, where results are primarily qualitative, is difficult and without an adequate interpretation or adaptation. This situation could be reversed if the following alternatives would exist: 1) A norm which interprets the ISO/IEC 17025 for plant and livestock health laboratories, and 2) a specific norm for this type of laboratories, in agreement with the ISO/IEC 17025, but with specific requirements.

Keywords : Quality control; agricultural and husbandry; tests; acreditation.
