VELASQUEZ-VALLE, Rodolfo; AMADOR-RAMIREZ, Mario Domingo; MEDINA-AGUILAR, María Mercedes e LARA-VICTORIANO, Faustino. Presence of pathogens in nurseries and seed of pepper (Capsicum annuum L.) in Aguascalientes and Zacatecas, Mexico. Rev. mex. fitopatol [online]. 2007, vol.25, n.1, pp.75-79. ISSN 2007-8080.
A survey conducted in several counties of the states of Aguascalientes and Zacatecas, Mexico, indicated that 88.4% of the traditional pepper nurseries showed damping-off damage; the area with damage ranged from 1 to 15%. The fungi Fusarium spp., Rhizoctonia spp., and Alternaria spp. were found on the seed surface of different pepper types as well as in diseased pepper seedlings. Soil fumigation and seed desinfection are carried out by only 4 and 42% of pepper seedling producers, respectively. In the soil of traditional pepper nurseries were identified the nematode genera Aphelenchoides spp., Pratylenchus spp., Dorylaimus spp., Aphelenchus spp., Ditylenchus spp., and Heterodera spp.
