Abstract
MARTINEZ VILLAROYA, Javier. Cosmovision or Cosmolistening? The Preeminence of the Eye in the Studies on Mesoamerica. Acta poét [online]. 2019, vol.40, n.2, pp.77-97. ISSN 2448-735X. https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.ap.2019.2.857.
The goal of this article is to reflect on the concept of cosmovision. An epistemology based on the unconscious metaphor of vision presupposes that human knowledge is a “reflection” of given cosmic structures. An epistemology based on the unconscious metaphor of listening, on the contrary, presupposes that human knowledge is a “dialogue” with the cosmic structures (and, therefore, the listener modifies the listened). Within the framework of American pragmatics, we examine some passages of Mesoamerican literature in search of indications that justify our proposal.
Keywords : epistemology; rhetoric; shamanism; studies of the imaginary; pragmatics.
