Since Augustine and his De doctrina christiana homiletic literature has experienced a permanent evolutional dynamics narrowly tight with the cultural and contextual phenomena which underlie the use of rhetoric to preach along the ages. This article proposes a revision of the specific materials that used to be in circulation during the 18th century in Mexico City and served for the education of preachers.
