Abstract

PUIG, Luisa. Del pathos clásico al efecto patémico en el análisis del discurso. Acta poét [online]. 2008, vol.29, n.2, pp.393-413. ISSN 2448-735X.

The relationship between language and emotions has developed quite significantly in the last few years within the framework of Linguistics, Theory of Argumentation and Discourse Analysis. This paper reviews some of the problems that the different theories deal with when trying to describe emotions in language, from the early classics to contemporary theories of language. Special emphasis will be given to Aristotle's means of persuasion (pistéis), Ekkehard Eggs' interpretation of the Aristotelian pathos, Catherine Kerbrat-Orecchioni's view of affective and axiological categories in language and discourse, the "pathemic effect" in Discourse Analysis, and the role of emotion in argumentative interaction.

Keywords : discurso; argumentación; pathos.
