Abstract

COHEN, Esther. La espera y el deshacerse del tiempo. Acta poét [online]. 2006, vol.27, n.2, pp.289-298. ISSN 2448-735X.

This text deals with Dino Buzzati's novel, The desert of the Tartars, published in 1940. The aim of this essay is the analysis of the concept of waiting since it puts in the center of the criticism of society, as Kafka or Beckett did among many others. Anachronism as the unique formula to "step out" of history to establish from that place, his acute and punctual criticism of the society of his time. In Buzzati's case, who writes during the war, that anachronism echoes in his demoralizing criticism where man waits, not patiently but desperately the arrival of the tartars, desapeared centuries ago. Waiting, as one of his characters say, simple because one must wait for something.
