Resumen

ZBINDEN, Karine. El yo, el otro y el tercero: el legado de Bajtín en Todorov. Acta poét [online]. 2006, vol.27, n.1, pp.325-339. ISSN 2448-735X.

This article analyzes the influence of the Russian thinker Mikhail Bakhtin on the Tzvetan Todorov, who was one of the most significant propagandists of the Bakhtin's ideas. Contrasting the inference of the concepts as Self, Other, the Third, and exotopy in the definition of human sciences made by both theorists, the author concludes that in spite of the fact that he surmounts certain limitations of bakhtinian thinking, Todorov sometimes doesn't manage to avoid certain deadlocks and difficulties, such as the transition from multiplicity of identities and a constructed self with multi-faceted identity, to the multiplicity of "others" implied in Todorov's capacious category of otherness. Nevertheless, Todorov's insights constitute an important development of the bakhtinian ideas.
