The concentration camp of Auschwitz, paradigm of the most extreme destruction that mankind devised in the course of history, left behind its ruins an inexorable damage in the possibilities of language, which led to the following question: Is it possible to narrate all that happened within the Nazi machinery of death? Is it possible to put in words such a radical experience? The Italian chemist and writer Primo Levi contrived to delineate the memory of Auschwitz in his book If this is a Man, a dazzling masterpiece of testimonial literature.
