Abstract

In spite of its being a legal dissertation, the treatise De iustitia distributiva et acceptione personarum ei opposita disceptatio gives its author, the Franciscan friar Juan de Zapata y Sandoval, the opportunity to disclosure his loving feelings for his sweet and beloved homeland and to utter his complaints about his country’s misfortunes. In this article we discuss Zapata᾽s defense of the controversy regarding the claim that people of indigenous, half-blood and criollo descent stake to access to benefits of clergy and civil posts.
