CASNATI, María Gabriela. Ψεȗδος in Words in Republic and εἰxóς Discourse in the Timaeus. Nova tellus [online]. 2011, vol.29, n.2, pp.47-85. ISSN 0185-3058.
In Republic II and III, Plato discusses the concept of ψεȗδος ("falsehood or lie") and states that in some circumstances it is convenient the utilization of what he designates ἐν τοȋς λόγοις ψεȗδος. The paper addresses the arguments held by Plato in order to defend the acceptability of resorting to falsehood, points out the distinction in levels between the factual truth and the normative truth, and shows similarities between the ψεȗδος of Republic and the probable or likely discourse (εἰxóς λόγος) in the Timaeus.
