Galen is a source of special value for the History of Medicine by offering abundant details about the teaching and learning of medicine both in the past and in his lifetime. Among numerous data we underline his testimonies about the Hippocratic medicine, his criticism about some earlier doctors, his opinion on contemporary Alexandrine medicine, his references to his own teachers of medicine, his indications about how he taught medicine, his general notes on the teaching and learning of medicine in his own time.
