The present text revises, in a way of homage, the intellectual evolution as well as the theoretical achievements of three recognized hellenists that died in the first decade of the 21st century: Jean-Pierre Vernant (1914-2007), Pierre Vidal-Naquet (1930-2006) and Nicole Loraux (1943-2003). An essential frame of reference we propose to look through is the Centre L. Gernet where the intellectual interest of the three French scholars meet around the 70's and the 80's.
