Abstract

MARSICO, Claudia T.. Antístenes y la prehistoria de la noción de campo semántico. Nova tellus [online]. 2005, vol.23, n.2, pp.69-99. ISSN 0185-3058.  https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.nt.2005.23.2.164.

Between Platonic philosophy and sophistic analyses of language, there is a potent and atypical theory that aims to base the knowledge of reality on semantic analysis. This solves the problem of the foundation of ethics without appealing to ontological radicalism. This is Antisthenes’ philosophy. It will be examined as an ancient antecedent of the modern notion of ‘semantic field’, paying attention to fragments that show the core concepts of the theory: investigation of names (ἐπἰσκεψις ὀνομἀτων), use of names (χρῆσις ὀνομἀτων) and distinction in clases (διαλἐ κατὰ γἐνη).

Keywords : antístenes; campo-semántico; etimología; lingüística; ontología; platón; semántica.
