Abstract

SANCHIDRIAN BLANCO, Carmen; PAYA RICO, Andrés  and  FREITAS ERMEL, Tatiane De. Trends in doctoral research and analysis of the scientific production of History of Education in Spanish universities. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2021, vol.50, n.199, pp.129-153.  Epub Mar 21, 2022. ISSN 0185-2760.  https://doi.org/10.36857/resu.2021.199.1804.

This paper analyzes a total of 198 doctoral theses defended by Spanish universities between 1990 and 2015 with the descriptors “History of education” from the TESEO database of the Spanish Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports. Four groups of variables have been considered: the national or local character, the period studied and its duration; the descriptors; the field from which the thesis has been done; and institutional factors. The results show important changes in some of the variables, which explain trends in research and the academic field of higher education.

Keywords : History of education; Doctoral theses; Higher education; Spain; Educational research.
