Resumen
BONIFAZ, Mónica Patricia. Academic career governance and the development of research capabilities in four private non-profit universities in Colombia, Chile and Peru. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2021, vol.50, n.199, pp.51-75. Epub 21-Mar-2022. ISSN 0185-2760. https://doi.org/10.36857/resu.2021.199.1800.
The objective of the study is to identify the characteristics and arrangements of the academic career governance that are associated with higher or lower research performance with international quality standards. Through a comparative case study of four private non-profit universities in Colombia, Chile and Peru, and the analysis of a sample of 1551 professors, it confirms that certain arrangements of an endogamous nature in the career governance are associated with academic communities with lower research capabilities and the absence of critical masses of professors capable of generating and producing advanced knowledge.
