Abstract
CARRILLO REGALADO, Salvador and RIOS ALMODOVAR, Jesús Gerardo. La oferta de trabajo en los estudiantes de licenciatura en México. Rev. educ. sup [online]. 2009, vol.38, n.151, pp.39-55. ISSN 0185-2760.
In this paper we present an analysis of the undergraduate students' participation in the labor market in Mexico and the determinants of their labor supply. We use probabilistic regression models and OLS to estimate the effects of different socioeconomic factors over the students' labor supply and their entrance decision to the labor market. It considers variables such as labor income, non labor income, age, gender, the major pursuit by the undergraduate student and the schooling level reported by the household head. Our findings suggest that non labor transfers have an important effect on the entrance decision and that a decreasing labor income level has a positive effect on the undergrads labor supply.
